Dialect Coaching

Sound confident. Stay grounded. Book the role!

I’m a Los Angeles–based filmmaker and dialect coach here to help you sound grounded, confident, and bookable. Whether you’re preparing a British accent for an audition, refining a Southern dialect for a role, or strengthening your General American sound, I offer personalized coaching tailored to your goals, timeline, and voice.

About Me

As an actor, director, and linguist with international experience both on camera and behind the scenes, I know how intimidating trying out new voice work can be! I bring a performance-driven approach to dialect coaching focused on clarity, confidence, and authenticity.

I currently teach with Language Academia, lead workshops and group classes at Margie Haber Studios, and work as an on-set dialect coach. Before relocating to Los Angeles, I lived and worked in South Korea for six years, including training corporate expats in English accent reduction and cross-cultural communication at Hyundai–Kia Headquarters.

I’m TEFL/TESOL certified, trained in the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and hold a BA in International Studies and Linguistics.

With over 10 years of ESL teaching and 5+ years of dialect coaching, I specialize in helping native and non-native English speakers build confident, consistent, and expressive voices.

Who I Work With

  • Actors preparing for roles, auditions, or on-set guidance
  • Voiceover artists expanding accent flexibility
  • Non-native English speakers refining General American fluency.
  • Native English speakers learning new dialects for their portfolio

  • UK Regional (British RP, Cockney, West Country, and more)
  • Southern U.S. (Texan, Appalachian, etc.)
  • Regional American (New York, Midwest, Valley, etc.)

If a dialect isn’t my specialty, I’m happy to recommend another coach.

FAQ

How many sessions will I need to master an accent?

The number of sessions needed depends on your goals, prior experience, and the complexity of the accent. Some clients may need just a few sessions to prepare for an audition, while others may need longer coaching for a role in a film or a stage production. During our first session, we’ll discuss a plan and timeline that works for you!

What should I bring to my first dialect coaching session?

Before your first session, it’s helpful to come prepared with a clear goal in mind, whether that’s learning a new dialect, prepping for a role, or working on accent reduction. If you’re an actor, bring along the script or material you’ll be working on and try to have in mind the character choices you want to make as that may affect the character's accent. We’ll also briefly discuss your current experience with dialects and any challenges you’re facing.
Apart from that, just come ready to engage, practice, and have fun!

How do I book a session with you?

Booking a session is easy!
You can book directly by visiting the booking page on my website and clicking on the "Book a Session" button, where you'll find a calendar that lets you select your preferred date and time. I'll contact you over email before the desired time to ask a few questions as well. :)

If you have any issues or want to discuss your specific needs before booking, feel free to reach out via the contact form.

How much do your dialect coaching sessions cost?

My rates vary depending on the type and length of the session. Online 1:1 sessions are typically charged $75 per hour, with a discount available for booking multiple sessions in advance. If you're looking for in-person coaching in Los Angeles or specialized on-set coaching, those rates may differ. Please reach out for specific pricing or to inquire about packages.

How do I pay for a session?

Payment is made through secure online payment methods before the session begins, via PayPal or other payment platforms. If you need a different method, just let me know, and we can work something out.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me at least 24 hours before your session. Cancellations within 12 hours may incur a fee or be counted as a full session, but I try to be flexible whenever possible. Let’s communicate, and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

How do you handle different time zones for online sessions?

When you book a session, you can select your local time zone, and I’ll automatically adjust to your time zone. I work with clients worldwide, so just let me know if you're outside of the Los Angeles (Pacific Time) zone, and I’ll make sure the scheduling is clear and accurate.

How long are the coaching sessions?

The standard coaching session is 60 minutes. However, if you need extra time to work through specific material or have a more intensive coaching need, I offer 90-minute sessions as well. Feel free to let me know if you'd like a longer session, and we can adjust accordingly.

Can I book a session for a group?

Usually, I specialize in one-on-one coaching to ensure a personalized experience. However, if you have a group of actors or creatives who want coaching, I’d be happy to discuss group rates and tailor a session plan for your needs.

If you are located in LA, I do teach a group in-person class for General American Accent once a week at Margie Haber Studios, please contact me for details.

Can I book coaching for an emergency or last-minute audition?

Yes, I offer rush sessions for last-minute auditions or urgent needs. Reach out through the booking page, and I’ll do my best to fit you in! (I'll get notified immediately if something is booked and email you for details.)

Keep in mind that availability for last-minute sessions is limited, so it’s best to book as early as possible.

Are there any packages or discounts for multiple sessions?

Yes! I offer discounted rates for clients who book multiple sessions in advance. You can choose to book 5, 10, or more sessions at a discounted rate. Reach out for more details, and I'll be happy to provide specific pricing for package deals.

How much practice will I need to do on my own outside of the sessions?

Practice is key to mastering any accent! I’ll provide you with exercises, audio recordings, or text samples to practice on your own between sessions. How much you need to practice depends on your goals, but I recommend setting aside 15-30 minutes a day for independent work. The more consistently you practice, the quicker you’ll feel confident and natural in your new accent. I’m here to guide you, but self-practice will help reinforce what we work on together in our sessions.
